Choosing your custom shorts

The pocket
A side pocket eats the only flat area on the leg. On a pocketed short, the logo moves up to the high thigh or round to the back, under the waistband. Look at where the pockets sit before choosing the area, not after.

The waistband
Elasticated with a drawcord, it adjusts and suits a kit-out where you don't know exact sizes. A constructed waistband with belt loops dresses it up but demands the right size. For a team, elastic cuts down on exchanges.

The length
A short cut leaves little height below the pocket: past eight centimetres of logo, the marking reaches the hem, which is a double thickness. Measure the smallest leg in the run, not the largest.
Which marking technique for custom shorts?
DTF transfer and screen printing both hold on a short's knit. On a leg, prefer a compact mark — a monogram or a short word — to a wide logo: the flat area is narrow and the fabric folds as you walk, which breaks a large image. Embroidery works on the thigh, never on an area that rubs when running.
