The custom sports tee is not a lighter cotton tee: it is a technical polyester knit, engineered to move perspiration outwards where it evaporates. Cotton absorbs and holds water; polyester moves it. Every difference in use follows from that.

Choosing your custom sports tees

The breathable knit
Open knits, channels and mesh panels under the arms are not decorative: they create the airways. A plain model with no ventilation zones dries more slowly, whatever fabric is claimed.

Sublimation
Polyester is the only common fabric that takes sublimation: the dye turns to gas, enters the fibre and sets there. The result has zero hand feel, never cracks and allows edge-to-edge artwork. It only works on light textiles, ideally white.

Dye migration
On deeply dyed polyester, press heat can pull the fabric's dye up into the mark: a white logo turns pink on red a few days after delivery. The phenomenon is well known and is handled with a blocking ink or film.
Which marking technique for custom sports tees?
On a technical knit, forget direct printing designed for cotton: it does not bond to synthetic fibre. Sublimation on light fabric gives the best possible result, with no added thickness to hinder breathability. On dark fabric, use a transfer made for polyester, with a migration barrier. Embroidery stays possible in small format, provided a stabiliser is used, because the knit runs under the needle.
