Christmas Jumper Day 2026: the team jumper you keep wearing

Christmas Jumper Day falls on Friday 18 December 2026 in France. Instead of an acrylic jumper worn once, dress the team in a logo sweatshirt they will wear all winter: which model, which decoration, what it costs and when to order.

A man in a custom burgundy sweatshirt with the TKNP logo, sitting on his office rooftop, holds out toward the camera the Santa hat and tinsel from Christmas Jumper Day.

Christmas Jumper Day 2026: the team jumper you keep wearing

In France, Christmas Jumper Day falls on Friday 18 December 2026. To celebrate it at the office, dress the team in a jumper they will want to wear again: an organic cotton sweatshirt with the logo embroidered on the chest, worn on the 18th and then all winter. On tknp.io, a run starts at 10 sweatshirts, sizes and colours mixed.

The ugly Christmas jumper has a flaw nobody sees in the team photo: it is made for a single day. Bought in early December and worn one Friday, it goes back to the bottom of a drawer in January, when it does not go straight in the bin. A company can play along differently, with a garment that keeps carrying its logo long after the holidays.

When is Christmas Jumper Day in 2026?

In France, the ugly Christmas jumper day (journée du pull moche) is held every year on the third Friday of December: in 2026, that is Friday 18 December. In the United Kingdom the date differs: in 2025, the British day fell on Thursday 11 December, while France celebrated on Friday 19 December. The tradition came from English-speaking countries and has found its way into offices: everyone turns up in a Christmas jumper, the team poses for a photo, and a contest often crowns the most over-the-top outfit.

For many teams it is also the last Friday before the holidays. The photo taken that day travels on the intranet, on LinkedIn and in the January newsletter: it shows the team, and what it is wearing.

The classic Christmas jumper, a garment worn once

The Christmas jumper sold on the high street is usually made of acrylic, a synthetic fibre, and often worn only once. In 2019, the British charity Hubbub had Christmas jumpers sold in the UK analysed: up to 95% contained synthetic fibres, acrylic appeared in three out of four, and 44% were made entirely of it. Its survey of UK adults added that two in five Christmas jumpers were worn only once over the festive period, and that one in three under-35s bought a new one every year.

Acrylic causes a second problem in the wash: according to a University of Plymouth study cited by Hubbub, it releases nearly 730,000 microfibres every time it goes through the machine.

In France, the one-day jumper lands on an already tall pile. According to Refashion, the French textile industry's take-back organisation, 3.6 billion new items (clothing, household linen, shoes) were sold in 2025, and each person in France bought 43 garments on average during the year. The one-day jumper is paid for twice: at the till in December, then in wasted material, as it spends the other eleven months folded in a drawer.

Which team jumper to choose so it is still worn after 18 December?

The jumper that outlives the party is a good-looking, understated sweatshirt with the team logo, one that everyone wants to wear in January. Three choices make the difference.

  • The fabric. A thick organic cotton crewneck sweatshirt keeps you warm and holds its shape wash after wash. Stanley/Stella's Changer 2.0 weighs 350 gsm, in GOTS-certified organic cotton; the Roller, softer at 280 gsm, blends 85% organic cotton with 15% recycled polyester. Our guide to sweatshirt weight helps you choose between the two.
  • The decoration. A logo embroidered on the chest lasts for years: embroidery lasts around ten years, screen printing far less. One decoration is enough; if you add a design on the back, keep the same technique across the whole garment. Our article on embroidery on clothing covers stitches and threads.
  • The design. No date, no reindeer printed for ever: a winter colour such as burgundy or navy, picked from the Changer 2.0's 47 colours, the logo and, if you like, the team name. A sweatshirt without a Christmas reference can be worn in February without looking like a costume.

Keeping the ugly-jumper spirit without throwing anything away

The ugly side is the game of the day: it can live in the accessories rather than in the garment. A bobble hat, tinsel worn as a scarf, Christmas pins on the sweatshirt, a contest for the most loaded outfit. The next day, everything comes off, and what remains is a sweatshirt you wear again at the office, at the weekend or at the January kick-off.

In the photo, everyone wears the same sweatshirt under the tinsel: the team is recognisable at a glance, and the logo shows clearly among the decorations.

A logo that travels all year

The ugly jumper makes one photo a year; the team sweatshirt goes out every time it is worn. On the Monday train, at a trade show, at an inter-company tournament or at the school gate, the logo travels on people who chose to put it on. That is the whole point of company merch: a brand's most credible medium, which costs nothing more once the sweatshirt is bought.

The same logic applies to the team's whole wardrobe: a sweatshirt for winter, a t-shirt for summer, a tote for trade shows. A well-thought-out capsule collection is worn all year round, and the same sweatshirt can go into the welcome pack for new starters.

How much does the team sweatshirt cost?

Here are our prices on tknp.io on 20 October 2026, read on the product pages of the three sweatshirts, for a logo embroidered on the left chest (8 x 10 cm) and a run of 25 sweatshirts, for guidance only and subject to change:

ModelCut and fabricPrice per embroidered sweatshirt, excluding VAT, at 25
Rollercrewneck, organic cotton and recycled polyester, 280 gsm€22.57
Changer 2.0crewneck, GOTS organic cotton, 350 gsm€26.27
Cruiser 2.0hoodie, GOTS organic cotton, 350 gsm€33.02

These prices exclude VAT and shipping, for a logo embroidered in one place only, in the model's most affordable colour; the bigger sizes and a few colours are priced slightly higher. The minimum is 10 sweatshirts of one model, with as many sizes and colours as you need, and the price drops at each quantity tier: the full table is on each product page.

When to order to be ready for 18 December?

To wear the sweatshirt on 18 December 2026, order before Friday 20 November, or open a pre-sale between 5 and 12 November.

  • If the company or the works council pays for the run. Decoration takes 10 working days from the order. An order placed on Friday 20 November ships on Friday 4 December: that leaves two weeks before the 18th for delivery, whose exact date appears in the basket. Before that, allow time to choose the model, approve the design and collect the sizes. A one-week turnaround exists, at +10%, but it is better not to depend on it.
  • If everyone pays for their own. A pre-sale campaign runs for 7 to 21 days, and the sweatshirts arrive about three weeks after it closes. Opened between 5 and 12 November and closed around the 19th, it delivers around 10 December.

Who pays for the team jumper?

There are two options: the company or the works council (CSE) gives the sweatshirt, or each colleague buys their own.

When the company or the works council gives it, they order the run and collect the sizes. The French social-security (Urssaf) rules on this kind of gift are covered in our article on corporate gifts at the end of the year.

When everyone pays, the tknp.io Store does the work: you open a campaign for free, each colleague reserves their size and pays their share online, then receives the sweatshirt in a bag labelled with their name. Each model has an order threshold, and sizes cannot be exchanged: a blank sweatshirt, ordered as a single unit, lets you try the fit before opening the campaign. What happens below the threshold is explained in our article on collecting a team's sizes without a spreadsheet.

After the holidays, the sweatshirt stays in your wardrobe

The sweatshirt approved for the day does not disappear on 19 December: it stays in the wardrobe of your tknp.io account, with its design. A new intake of starters, a team that grows in the spring, another Christmas Jumper Day next year: you reorder the same sweatshirt, from 10 of one model, without starting from scratch, and the team's wardrobe grows from one year to the next.
